Electronic Portfolios for Deer Stalkers
Deer Management Qualifications (DMQ) - which awards the Deer Stalking Certificate (DSC) is introducing electronic candidate portfolios for those registering for the DSC2 from next month.
The new portfolios, developed and hosted by e-portfolio specialists OneFile, will enhance the preparation, submission and assessment of the witnessed candidate evidence that leads to the award of the DSC2. The portfolio remains a document that can continue to be used by award holders to record their development and experience as a stalker. The award criteria remain unchanged; candidates will continue to register with their chosen assessment centre and have three years in which to gather evidence.
Those already registered for the DSC2 when the electronic version goes live on October 10 will continue to use a paper-based portfolio for the rest of their three-year registration. Paper portfolios will be phased out by October 2019.
Philippa Bursey, chair of the DMQ quality assurance and development group, said: “DMQ is excited to adopt a system which is well-established in the education sector. It will make the DSC2 evidence recording and reporting process much more efficient and will allow assessors to better support and guide candidates as they work towards the award.”
