anyone know why some rifles are spigoted for a sound moderator what is the advantage our not is it something to do with the diameter of the barrel will this way of fitting give better alignment.
 
My .308 was threaded with spigot for a Northstar, which is a reflex without a rear bushing.
I guess the spigot gives it the extra support it therefore needs, compared to a T8, say.
 
a lot of target shooters have them. rule of thumb is if the mod come loose with spigot thread. there is less change of a bullet hitting the baffles in the mod. as the spigot keeps the mod in-line with the bore
