Deer with lumps

I shot a yearling roe this evening, no outward signs of ill health, possibly a little small but good coat, bright eyed and well, until I skinned it...

on the shoulders and neck are small 7-10mm yellowish cysts or similar, and on inspection of the skinned hide, there are dozens of these attached to the skin itself, some very small, some much more angry looking although none are puss filled. Lymph nodes are all enlarged but not 'nasty' just clearly looks to be fighting something.

The he only thing that comes close appears to be Onchocerca rugosicauda, any opinions from the vets amongst us? View attachment 67386View attachment 67387View attachment 67388View attachment 67389

Had very similar end of last year on a yearling buck
the liver was covered in lumps similar to your first two pics
also the whole carcass looked yellowish in colour
sent pics to one of the vets on here but had no reply
be interesting if anybody can shed any light into it
regards pete

Not an expert but localised infection caused by shotgun pellets?

You say yearling - male? Has it been battered by an older buck and the lesions are all scar tissue? Is the lesion under the skin or does it seem to be part of the skin?

Your worm is a new one on me!
