hi all, tommy here, just started taking up deer stalking, going on my first stalk in march with some other stalkers, any hints and tips you can give me would be great, thanks

Hi Mate

If you are walking and stalking and have a rifel, then dry practice getting it from a slung sholder position and on to your shooting stick position.

You can practice with an air rifel or anything preferably with a scope on.

Just work out a system and practice practice practice.

My sticks are the cheep telescopic type. I open and stab into the ground first then they self suport as i bring the rifel round.

They had caps on the ends, bin those and there are flaired bits that will stop the sticks going deep in soft mud. Bin those too.

Also have the sticks set too tall and angle them back to the corect hight by leaning them over. You never know when you will need tall sticks and its too late to adjust them once you spot the deer.

This was the hardest thing I found when I first went out
