Hi, got the offer of a kawasaki strimmer, dont know what size going to see it tonight, any ideas as to whats the best for using a brushcutter blade, just wondering if its a 27cc would it be up to the job?

Bigger the better IMO. Depends what you are planning to do with it. You'd probably be ok with a light double edged blade but anything bigger or heavier like mulcher blades etc on heavy scrub and it will probably struggle badly.

Have a look at Stihl catalogue page 98

You'll have to cross reference back in to the machines to give you an idea of what engine size will cope with what blade.
Contrary to popular belief, it is the speed of the head that will do the damage. Drag the speed of the head down too much and it will not function well. Get the lightest blade in a profile that will cope with the worst stuff you will encounter and keep the revs up.

Turned out it was a kawasaki td40, and boy what power it has, has any other member had one, your views would be great.

Looks like they have the old TK carb.
If it runs well now then make sure you keep it that way.
Change the spark plug every season and before you put it away tip out the old fuel and give it some fresh with some fuel preserver in it.
Most problems we encountered were with bad fuel after having been left all winter or a new plug for the new season

I have a kawasaki strimmer. It is a 40 something cc. Very good machine which starts and runs no problem with brush cutter blade aswell. Using good quality two stroke oil always helps the cause.

change the head and try the Oregon jet fit head. Depending which head you use you can put between two and four strips in and it will cut through the bramble and such like butter. When one breaks eventually, its easy just to push it up and keep on using until there is none left, then its simply pushing a new one in
