The old saying “Mad dogs and English men go out in the mid-day sun” was quite close to-day….
Except the script went something like this.. “walk 325 yards to set up in a 40 mph wind”
This field has been drilled sometime, however there was still enough grain on top to keep them locked in the area.
The birds are still in rape flocks so picking out a few as they passed by was key, I have found in the past if you keep banging into the larger flocks then it will send them over the hill and not to return. With the extreme conditions it was possible to nip a couple out with out disturbing them to the extent they left.
A lot of birds in the area with every shot in the book being used today, I have shot with my friend quite a lot so it works very well. Picked up 96 with 2 lost and 4 on the trip back.
We are both going to a shooting friend’s funeral tomorrow, he was a member on here so I dedicate the day in his memory, RIP PETER.
