Had a bit of luck a couple of weeks ago after putting a lot of work in we finally had a "shooter" turning up at a regular time, although we have a hell of a lot of boar around this year they have been coming at all hours and very hard to sit for.
We sat for him the first time and a Muntjac spooked him enough to circle around until he got our wind and was gone. I checked the trailcam the following week and he was still coming right on dusk so I sat with a mate off the SD while he was up Munty stalking.
The wind was wrong but we gave it ago, just as he due to turn up a dog walker came along and frighten a Fallow pricket up past us. Think he also scared the boar off.
The following week Andy and I sat up and right on time the young male turned up, I never moved a muscle until he was crunching the maize at 25m from the seat ( a little too close ) I eased the rifle up and squeezed the trigger, he reacted to the shot and made a short dash before crashing down. I've shot quite a few boar but this one was so exciting being that close.
Any way as the saying go's he's sausages now
