Hi,
if I recall last year some debate about new stalker and poaching.
On 2 tonight a cooking programe set at Hamptworth.
Cheers

Wife's suddenly decided she's sick of cookery programmes. As soon as she saw that it was shooting themed:rolleyes:
Cosequently "we" are now watching New Tricks.

Well, im much looking forward to our next visit to the anderson's..

The dilema and heartache of having to remove the pate from the ramakin instead of being able to spread it straight on ones toast was just unbearable..

Dim son am grachach fan hyn Iwrch. If we do meet, a knuckle to the forehead will suffice! Still working on getting my first Ceredigion beast, it will come though.

We had a look and decided we are just about ****** of with cookery programes no matter what they are cooking and also watched New Tricks. Why the hell do we have televisions anyway when a lot of us will have the written word on cooking. Or is it that we just like watching anything that is cheap for them to produce. For some people it may be entertainment but for me I will
just read the recipe book with a glass of red and watch yet another re-run. So much for creativity.

John.

I watched it and thought it just gave the impression that people who shoot are all picky toffs. Carry on down that line with the public thinking the same as with hunting that it is a class war and shooting will be the next thing on the banned list.

Yes I did and have to agree with claret dabbler that they did not come across very well at all .It didnt help that they have made game out to be very difficult to cook almost a black art !!
Some people on that show should know better ? we are supposed to be promoting our sports not encouraging the public that we are all toffs etc .

you wouldn't be refering to a fairly high level member of an Organisation that looked after Gamekeepers, Nationally, would you Iwrch bach?

I was at college with Guy Anderson and he was one of the most polite friendly people you could ever wish to meet. yes he was eccentrically posh and I am sure the editors had thatagenda when they filmed it. I guessed it was going to be that kind of prog and missed it on purpose.

I watched it and have to agree with Claret.

They came across poorly and appeared as per Claret's comments. It didn't do shooting any favours. I know some very well healed land owners (as I am sure alot of people do) and they would not have come across as these people did nor would they behave as these did. Where did they find them? Or perhaps it was for the sake of the cameras? They were your stereotypical "toff's" and I thought came across as a bunch of chinless idiots.

To be fair, Guy Anderson was not as bad as some of the others, at least he seemd to have a sense of humour, his wife was a right battle-axe.

I would also believe the programme makers didn't edit it to show the shooting folk in the best light.

On the other hand, the guy was was acting up as butler was an idiot also.

Indeed, as you touched on the TV production guys will be editing and directing to get provocative content so it's often not the subjects fault if they come over badly.

Surely any exposure for game on TV is good? They had to make it look fancy as the chef has Michelin Star aspirations, it is what the show is about.

No point me taking the BBQ over there then  and throwing a couple of sika steaks on it with a knob of butter, salt, pepper and a brush of olive oil, whilst holding a cold tinnie of Carlsberg larger.

Never mind I shall keep it for those that deserve it :lol:

I hope the average viewer does not think that all shooting people are the same

Out again this weekend on the Bucks, must remember to wear my breeks and the little red flashes on the side of my socks :-|

Having only watched about 2 minutes of this programme, because someone told me that friends of mine were on, I don't really know how the programme was put across. However, I know one of the couples who were dining very well and have since discovered that another of the guest couples are people I know well, I can only conclude that any appearance of snobbiness was entirely due to mischievous editing as my friends are certainly not as described in this thread. In any case, from the, admittedly short, bit that I did watch they didn't appear snobbish or posh at all/ So they spoke with a different accent...so frickin what? Does that mean anyone with a South Wales accent is a pikey, dog using poacher? Guilty m'lud! Is every North Easterner a geordie maggot? Does everyone with a NW accent shag sheep? etc etc etc.

When will people learn that crap behaviour has sod all to do with accent and everything to do with attitude. And this socialist fashion of "reverse snobbery" is even worse than the traditional kind.
