I have seen fallow use an underpass on the M1 and even witnessed one muntjac and a couple of Chinese Water Deer use the same route, even mid-morning.
It seems they only hesitate if people are around, the traffic didn't seem to bother them in the slightest, not even big noisy skip lorries with clattering chains.
They're a lot more adaptable than we give them credit for.

Whenever I travel by car to Alsace, it's passing this structure that marks my arrival. You go through a cutting in the characteristic local pink sandstone and there is this bridge that has been built specifically for wildlife to cross the motorway. It's covered in vegetation. There are a few of these around but this is the most spectacular one.
