Get your dogs chipped

Out walking Dexter we came across a lovely black Lab bitch at 07:30 this morning. She had a collar on with a tag saying "I've been microchipped".

After a 5 minute wait to see if anyone rocked up, I brought her back home for a drink, then off to the vets to get her scanned. Hurrah, there was a beep!!

Hopefully all the details are up to date, but without the chip I'd have been door knocking for hours.

Well done!
hopefully dog and owner will be reunited ASAP,
isn't microchipping going to be compulsory soon?

UPDATE - Abba was collected 20 minutes after being dropped off at the vets... Shows that the system works folks :thumb:

If they had also put a phone number on the tag as well .
It would have saved a lot off fathing about going to get the dog scanned.
would it not?

Yeh, I was informed it was early 2016 where prices will probably rocket. I'm only having to pay £10. It will be a good process for generating extra income with plenty of fines.

Got Willow done at the Dogs Trust for free.
The documents were duly delivered but I left them to close to the edge of the table and someone decided they'd like a chew of the paperwork:doh:image.jpg
Have to send off for replacement paperwork on top of the replacement vet registration which she got to as well:doh:
Butter wouldn't melt in her mouth - would it?

I recently went to a talk by a solicitor specialising in dogs and the law. He stated that all dogs must have a legible identification tag on. when challenged he explained that micro chips, whilst a revelation, did not completely meet the law!

so I suppose that a tag would have made the process quicker but it was the micro chip that saved the day!!

all dogs in Scotland must be chipped from April 2016

And England I believe?

Currently seem to be 4 different databases with different fee structures?

Not sure how to choose?

My dog chipped in Spain and local vets reception seem unable to give any lead on getting him registered?

Try dfordog.co.uk to check if you have a number

Maybe we should microchip people too! It would make the police's job much easier!
Good result on the dog!
MS

Our local council provides a very cheap chipping service ( compared with some professional charges) I seem to remember my three were a tenner each.

MS would that be anyone over 70 that goes "wandering" you have a point though.
