Another bumper acorn crop

It seems that I am making a habit of this but after last years dearth of acorns looks like this year they are once again in abundance. Noticed a lot of oaks with very heavy crop in Devon two weeks ago. This weekend whilst out after tree rats in places it felt like I was walking on marbles and large no's of pigeon under oaks on newly sown grass and wheat were feeding on acorns as were the pheasants. Looks like the rape will be safe for a few months. Also huge no's of pigeon on standing maize which is unusual, we still have a lot to be cut and looks like it will stay that way for a few more weeks its going to be too wet to get on the ground if the forecast is correct.
