Difference between Swaro Binos - SLC vs EL

Gents,

Checked the previous threads and couldn't really find the answer I was looking for. I have decided to buy a secondhand pair of Swarovski binoculars - my budget will probably put me looking at binos around 6-10 years old.

I have decided I want 10 x 42 - but as to whether to get SLCs or ELs I am not sure. I have read ELs are lighter, but not by how much - other than that, what is the difference? At the age I will be looking at, are there models to go for or ones to ignore? Swarobright, WB, HD, its all a bit confusing.

I have been looking on the birding forum hoping to find a pair, but I need to know what I am looking for really before I take the plunge.

Regards,

I compared 2 x 'old heavy SLC', side by side with EL 8.5x42. the EL's won, by quite a margin, for my eyes. But there's a new version of SLC, I think called HD.
