    Wet Weather Water Deer

Last weekend saw me down in Bedfordshire with Ian Farrington. I had two trips last winter after a medal class Chink but despite seeing several on his ground only managed a couple of does.
Anyway this time the first three outings proved blank. As Ian said "the deer are having a party and your not invited Steve!!"
However the morning of the last stalk everything came together and just after first light I managed to grass this big lad. The tusks are about 5cms protruding from the gum line and seem reasonably thick and well matched. I would guess he will score a comfortable silver. He had two huge slashes on his shoulder and hind leg from another buck when I skinned him so the rut must be kicking in.
Many thanks go to Ian once again for his help and guidance. I would recommend him highly if you want to stalk CWD in a woodland setting, they can prove to be very challenging.
