For reluctant sale is my 1985 Land Rover 90 (defender). I bought this very recently as a weekend toy and daily drive, but a change of work circumstances means a much longer commute and has forced me to sell before I've even had a chance to get it dirty! The car itself is in truly excellent structural condition. The chassis and bulkhead are spotless - no rust, no welded patches. It has had a full waxoyl and service less than 200 miles ago. The service history is comprehensive and detailed. Huge amount of paperwork, including original bills of sale, all MOTs, engine conversion details, the lot. According to the previous owner it had never been offroaded and I can well believe it given the condition.
The main reason for buying was the amount of work evident from the history and the condition of the car. I have just replaced the starter motor for an expensive new item. The engine conversion was done back in '98 for a low mileage 3.5 v8 and the V5 has been changed to reflect this. Clocks read around 12000 miles, but I know it has done very little at all since the engine conversion and spent almost all of its life in a garage.
Work done includes (but not limited to):
2 inch Lift kit
Galvanised Rock sliders
Excellent shocks all round
Winch bumper (no winch)
Wheel arch extensions
Very expensive Goodyear Wrangler Durawall tyres (puncture resistant)
Checker plated interior including bonnet etc. makes it a doddle to clean
Up rated prop shaft
5 speed gearbox (allows for better cruising/economy)
mot till Dec 16 no advisories
Battery cut off/cat 1 alarm with central locking (although doesn't work too well with wiggly defender locks)
Interior is good, bench seats in the back.
No headlining - although the previous owner has this so could possibly retrieve it if you wanted it
As you can see the bulkhead corners are spot on, no bubbling at all. The chassis is rock solid. Any work needed doing on this truck got done!
