Devon Stalkers Shoot - 28th February 2016

Devon County Shooter

Well-Known Member
This event will be run in partnership with Roundhouse Firearms Training with more live updates on here and the Facebook group - "Devon Stalking" and "Roundhouse Firearms Training".

The day will give members the chance to shoot reactive targets (steel) along with paper targets out to a maximum range of 500 yards. The day will start at the 100 yard marker and slowly progress backwards. The day will give stalkers the chance to practice different fire positions including stick work at various ranges without the real pressure of live quarry in front of them. It will also serve as social event between local stalkers. This event is not a competition but a chance to work on your own or with advice from more experienced stalkers.

The day has already attracted a number of stalkers with a current cost of £50 which will be reduced when more stalkers take part. Due to the organisation involved, a 50% deposit is required to secure your place, the outstanding amount is payable on the day.

Any rifle on the day must be your own and should be conditioned on your FAC for "zeroing on land you have permission"(or words to similar effect). The ground is cleared for full-bore, so "open" or "closed" FAC is acceptable. If you have a “mentoring condition" on your FAC, you must be accompanied by a mentor.

A target impact velocity of 3,100fps is imposed on the reactive steel targets and similarly solid monolithic bullets are not permitted to be used. Expanding A-max style bullets are preferred. Most stalking ammunition will suffice but if you are in any doubt, please ask.

All stalkers are to arrive at the farmhouse at 0830hrs; a central brief will be conducted shortly after. Firing will commence from 0900hrs with last rounds down just before 1600hrs.

Please contact Tiff Dew for more information including deposit payments - roundhousefirearms@gmail.com

Directions and final detail will be emailed to you once you have secured your place.

Thanks for your interest.

Regards

Carl.

This looks really interesting, can you give a general location for the event as it would help with me seeing if it is something I can consider as it looks like a good day out.

Tiff runs several shooting events throughout the year. It really is a great facility. I would recommend getting in touch and attending one of the events, normal ranges just seem boring once you have been to the Roundhouse. Tiff is a great host and very knowledgeable when it comes to shooting too. He's put a lot of effort and investment into getting Roundhouse up and running, and we need to support these types of facility.

Agreed !

Due to the numbers involved, we have now been able to drop the cost down to £45. :)

Remember this isn't a competition but a chance for local stalkers to meet and greet and practice on good quality targets without the risk to live quarry.

maybe you,ve been annexed by them sneaky lot from Devon countyshire ,last year my car deffo drove over Bodmin moor in Cornwallshire

Just like to thank all the lads that took part in our first shooting event, the point was full with a great turn out. The weather was fantastic and the light wind surprised many at the 200 yard mark. It was great to see a variety of scopes and calibre's and the limitations that were attached to each one. 500 yards was a long way for a stalking rifle but most still hit it with a spotter next to them.

Big thanks to Tiff Dew of Roundhouse Firearms Training for use of the venue, please thank your parents for providing the sentries, it couldn't of been fun in that cold wind ! Thanks Phil Rowland for taking all the pictures, can't wait to see them all. Roll on the next event towards the start of July.
