Just been watching Springwatch and they are on the Isle of Man, filming Wallabies, apparently they are thriving, therefore must surely be a potential problem, soooo......
There's an island on Loch Lomond thats had wallabies since the 1940's. Story goes that a Lady Arran Colquhoun released them there. There's been talk of culling them for years, but as yet nothing concrete has been done - unless anyone knows otherwise. At last count they thought there was just less than 100.
There's also a small number of albino roe that can be seen occassionally swimming to and from a particular island.
Around that area. Have an aquaintance who lived near it and when they first moved in he was out with his SxS in the garden after a Waskerly Wabbit and he heard this rustling in the Rhodies and Boinggggggg out pops this Wallerby. We don't know who was more surprised. They were never mentioned in the house sale. It was an old Victiorian head Keepers house (Cottage) complete with brick and wrought iron dog runs. I believe it's a run as a Kennals now?
Remember seeing a wallaby whilst stalking near Newbury a few years back. Quite offputting when you're not expecting to see one! It was in a field outside of the wood we were going to stalk - apparently an escapee from a nearby exotic animal park.
An hour or so later it came bounding through the wood, but wouldn't stop, even when we shouted
