Hello there just a quick introduction,
I'm Gareth, i'm 36 and live in Clitheroe in Lancashire, i've had my FAC for just over 4 years now. I started off with a .223 rifle shooting foxes for a farmer I know and had permision for a .17HMR which I never bought. About 18months ago I really started to take an interest in starting deer stalking, I put in for a variation for a .25-06 to be used for fox and deer and a .22Rimfire for rabbits and bought both rifles immediately. My .25-06 is a Tikka T3 Stainless Varmint with a shortned 20" barrel and McMillan stock and my .22Lr is an Anschutz 1417-U2 Thumbhole.
I have 4 land permissions in my local area, 3 I can shoot anything I like rabbits, fox, deer although sadly deer very rarely are found on these farms, the 4th farm I can only shoot fox and sadly there are a good number of Sika that i'm not able to touch.
I did my DSC1 course around 18moths ago, I passed 3 sections and have 2 resits to do which I havent done yet, I passed the Safety,Shooting and meat hygiene sections but didn't have enough deer specific knowledge to pass the other 2 sections. I'm not just waiting for another course near by so I can complete those.
I currently go out once/twice a week shooting rabbits/fox but I would really love to get into deer stalking but as I say its not really possible on my land permissions.
I'm hoping to find on this site more info on getting into stalking and maybe come across the oppotunities to go.
