I am thinking about a little project on my Sako Finfire and was thinking of replacing the excellent standard stock with a really nice t/h , so can anyone give me a idea on where to source and rough pricing please ? Thanks Chris

There is a couple ways forward with this. So you can order a Richards Microfit from the states and they're very well priced and require finishing off, they don't do your inlet though so will also need inletting. I am sure WelshWarrior off here could help you with that, from what I have seen his work is very good.
The other option is just to speak to WelshWarrior and see if he will make you one from scratch. This will likely be more expensive but will be made 100% to your style and measurements, it'll fit like a glove.
UK Gun Repairs (http://www.ukgunrepairs.co.uk/index.html) will also make you one and it will be stunning and also fit perfect however they are really really not cheap. Lovely blokes though and a pleasure to deal with.

These guys look good - https://www.customstock.co.uk - albeit their website only shows air rifle stocks (I've been thinking about one for my old FN19.

There not a million miles away from you and might have a crack at it - good prices too, I think..

What sort of thing are you thinking of how really nice it can add a huge amount to the bill! Anything can be done but it'll depend on your wallet.

A nice piece of walnut and basic style can be had from Boyds or Microfit or as said a stock can be custom made.

Thanks for the replies , probably looking around £500 budget , I have seen a very nice Gary Cane stock but open to any more ideas.

Try http://www.schaftwork.de he is a brit trained stock maker and made a thumbhole stock for a friend of mine for his blaser R93

Richards Microfit will no longer ship to the UK and Boyds will only ship if the item ordered retails for $100 or less, as they have put there basic prices up to $109.99 recently the only stocks available from them are those that go on special offer now and then.
Parmoor Stocks do a thumbhole for the Sako Finnfire, some of their stocks are on ebay or look here: http://www.gun-stocks.co.uk/
My shooting partner has one on his Rem 700 and its very nice.

Ian.

gunstock.jpgI have just got this one from schaftwerk.de for the grand sum of 450 euros +17 euros postage. It was made to my order as I still cannot get on with my new Thumbhole success.
