Folks,

I shot a young buck yesterday. He was approx 150yds from me, i watched the bullet strike and he lunged into some thick trees approx 15yds away. Now i knew he was in there but it still took me approx 20mins to find him.

I have a 6mth old border terrier at home who i want to train. Can anyone recommend a good book/method/techniques?

There are a couple of good books:-
Guy Wallace does a book called “Training dogs for woodland stalking” but the one I now think that is best is Niels Sondergaard “Working with dogs for deer” buy it, it is a worth while investment.

Seconded. Guy Wallace is good but I prefer Nils Sondergaard's methods and he certainly has a shed load of experience.

no probs matey although i think i'm in for a bumpy ride.
I let him run with my 2 chesapeake bay retrievers and now he thinks he is one! He's more likely to try and shag the deer.
