Mange in Roe

This week I had to shoot one of our most promising bucks at work, I saw him about a month ago and he had a silvery patch on one side, this has since turned into completely bald on both sides and across the top of his rump, he was covered in flies and constantly licking and scratching himself. I have been away for a bit so not seen him for a while. He was very thin and in awful condition but still came to the call. Out of interest his antlers were 29cm straight to the top and I would put him around 4 years old. I haven't seen any other deer showing signs and none of the foxes I shoot at work have ever shown any either. Has anyone else ever heard of mange in deer? I understand from EMcC that it is not common at all, hope it stays that way as it was a pitiful sight.
