Deer Poaching Southern England

Just read a thread on another forum regarding large scale deer poaching in Southern England by a gang of hard core poachers. Apparently they have already evaded the police by assaulting an officer and ramming his vehicle off the road to make their escape.
They were using a pick up with a false registration at the time. They have also been known to use a Landrover Discovery.

Information available indicates they are operating from a base close to Portsmouth.

So you guys in Hampshire, Dorset, Sussex and Wiltshire that might be wondering where your deer have disappeared too, this lot might well be the cause.

I was stalking with a chap in east anglia recently who had a problem with poaching and he and a couple chaps went to investigate a land rover lamping the estate and they were met with a .22 fired at there vehicle twice.

Large scale deer poaching using dogs and illegal firearms is more wide spread than a lot of us would first believe.

Unfortunately many police authorities see it as a minor rural crime, and give it a low priority when it comes to the allocation of their dwindling manpower resources.

What is ignored is the fact that those associated with poaching are usually heavily involved in other crimes. Drug dealing, theft, dog fighting etc.

if you see poachers lamping on your grounds, you could always pull a Crocodile Dundee and shoot out the lamp and tyres whilst dressed in a deer suit :norty: ..or maybe not... ha ha ha

If you're feeling brave you could simply walk over and give them a piece of your mind. You might need to pick your bollox up in you hat in order to carry them home afterwards mind.
