I am doing my xmas list for the family, I am needing a set of binoculars for stalking and a good knife. Can anyone recommend a good entry binoculars around the £300/400 mark I don't mind second hand.

Macleods are always worth a look at; http://www.rmacleod.co.uk/CUSTOMER%20S_H%20STOCK%20LIST.pdf

I think these are the best bargains out there; http://www.comparestoreprices.co.uk/binoculars/minox-bd-8x44-bp-binoculars.asp

I think the EKA swingblade is outstanding and I now use one all the time; http://www.moonrakerknives.co.uk/ekanordicf.htm

Mora 2010 are also outstanding, good steel and a dishwasher proof sheath; http://www.knifebargains.co.uk/acatalog/Mora_of_Sweden_-_Mora_Outdoor_2010_Fixed_Blade_Knife.html

For your price range I can thoroughly recommend Minox HG Bino's

I researched a good deal for Bin's and asked a few questions on here and following various recommendations I finally bought a new pair at the Scone Game Fair for £380

For that price, they are very hard to beat as Im sure others who own them will agree.

As for knives, Mora's are hard to beat.

rigboot beat me to it...go for the Minox HG Bino's and mora knife you wont be disarpointed .

Thanks for the info guys, can you remember the name of the dealer at the game fair rig boot. I have just done a quick search on the binoculars and it's looks like you had he'll of a deal. What spec was yours as there are a few different magnification options. As for the knife I think the eka swing blade looks good, just seen some videos on YouTube on this knife and it looks very good.

Thanks again lads

i have both the mora knives in orange and now a swingblade too thanks to my better half :)
both are very good blades, the swingblade being superior of course with the twin purpose cutting blades

and minox binoculars you wont be disapointed they're great value literally the only diference between the minox and say the likes of zeiss
is ten minutes, yep you heard me literally the last ten minutes before dark, i've tried the minox bl 8x42 against the zeiss binoculars
and between a £1000 is ten minutes,

Minox are brilliant!!

Aye, that's the beauty of haggling face to face.

The retailer was Ffordes of Beauly, really good company to deal with.

When I got home from the fair and opened the Sealed box there was a pair of 10x40's in it, these things happen, even the sealed outer packaging was marked up as 8.5x43 but anyway, quick call and they replaced them next day, reimbursed my return postage etc so all in all great service

Cheers
