Maybe, maybe not. Any info on snowfall in the area prior to the carcase being discovered?
Possible answer if there was a massive drift surrounding the pole, the deer may have become entangled in the wire or electrocuted, carrion feeders have a nibble as the snow then melts removing the lower limbs. Snow continues to melt leaving the deer high and (relatively!) dry and away from large carnivores.

most times when animals feed on others they start at the soft /easy to brake into parts of the body. IE anus belly and so on. never seen one eat the feet first as there is virtually no meet on that part.
but strange things do happen
