OK, I'll be the first to admit it. I enjoy shooting the deer. I like the slight quickening of the pulse when you catch sight of the deer out of the corner of your eye. The calm that takes over as you line up the shot. The thud of the recoil and observing the animal go down. And that immediately after the shot the cold hands that I'd been mentally cursing just before, are now nice and warm. (That'll be due to the quickening of the pulse then).
If the deer has run any distance after the shot there's then the agonising wait until you go forward, shortly followed by the elation of finding the deer not far away.
