I hope i havent worn this topic out, i could not find it in a search ......

I been shooting a 303 Jc for some years now on the larger animal , It is a standard rilfe & as so im not chopping it up for a sound mod. So......im looking for a suitable cal to use , something with not quite the bite & snarl of the 303.

choices are 308 , 30/06 , 300 , ?? . Now its you turn which & why?

cheers

Not sure if any of the 308, 30-06, 300 etc would have less of a "snarl" than the 303. May be less due to better stock shape. Drop down instead to 6.5x55, 7x57 or their modern equivalents of 260 or 7mm-08. If you want a lighter rifle for small deer and vermin go with 243.

The use of a mod on ANY calibre will tame it in comparison to an un-modded .303

I am of the opinion no one should be without a .308, ,but then I also own a 7-08 which is an excellant calibre.

I need the grunt, but not the snarl. I cannot tame a 303, I can however tame a 308/30-06 etc with a can ! As far as the rest suggested , i have.
