Originally my thoughts were on purchasing a Howa 1500 but after hearing stories of soft stock fore ends I've decided against, I know there's a lot of happy Howa owners out there but it's not for me, Ive now been looking at Weatherby, yes, I know that they're made by Howa but they are different, bedded barrel (of sorts) which I can float if not happy, monte carlo stock, and other subtle differences, the carbine has a 20" barrel and total weight is six and a half pounds, ideal for stalking and lamping foxes, well, for me that is.

So folks, if you've got any for's and against's I'd like to hear from you, cheers callie.

FAIR 1 callie, I was lucky and my 1500 had a Macmillan stock on it as standrd, but i re stocked my rem sps, so the stock can make all the difference!

I have a Howa 1500 in .243 on a overmolded Hogue stock, I put a Rifle Basix trigger on it and is a great rifle.
