I popped out for a early stalk on Sunday evening mostly to drop some venison off for the farmer and take Max my GSP for a wander as he's a bit bored.
I had a nice walk around seeing a few does one with a fawn. I was stalking but to be honest it was just nice to be out and no pressure to shoot anything.
Anyway I was walking along the bottom edge of a corn field when suddenly Max went on point. I stopped in my tracks and got the rifle on the sticks, I had a good scan with the bino's but couldnt see anything. I carry the buttalo most of the time for the Muntjac so I gave it a quick squeak and up jumped a buck about 70 yards away and stood perfect broadside, I didn't hesitate and dropped him where he stood and gave Max a pat.
It just reminded me of how much more success I've had since stalking over Max, I would have either walked by or bumped this buck without him.
Those of you who don't stalk over a dog you don't know what your missing chaps it adds a whole new element to the stalk.
