Moray Outfitting

Well-Known Member
Late Availabilty Accompanied Stag Stalking.

Short notice stalking opportunity. AW available at no additional cost, first timer’s/ novice welcome – full and friendly guidance available. Estate rifle can be arranged – subject to usual requirements.
We have a number of days available for Red Stags this season. Late change in forest operations has made available opportunity to stalk Red Stags in semi-mature commercial forestry in Moray. Outings by the day, with available dates of –

October –
1st
3rd - BOOKED
4th - BOOKED
6th
8th
11th
12th
13th
14th
15th - Provisional Booking
18th - BOOKED
19th
20th

We are not intending to stalk all these days – full availability given to keep options open. Will mark up this post as bookings are confirmed and through monitoring progress so that the ground is not hammered.

Whilst reasonable fitness required, this is not hill stalking and will take place in rides and clearings within fairly dense commercial forest blocks on relatively easy ( but boggy ) ground. Will be a case of stalking rides and waiting up over suitable clearings – with consideration for DSC L2 criteria where required. Stags are roaring at the moment – but if predicted heat wave arrives then things may change.

Pricing £150 per day, then Stags up to 7 points £40, 8-10 £60 and 11 or above £100. One animal per day ( no guarantees ), additional animal at discretion of stalker – subject to extraction, total animals taken against cull etc. Choice whether to shoot will naturally be yours, but decision as to animal will be sole discretion of the stalker. Other usual terms apply.

See Stalking School Website ( at page bottom ) for contact details or PM. Choice of local accommodation – B & B, Hotel, Camping ( for the hardy ), nearest main town Aberlour.

Thanks,

Andy

Apologies. Still feeling our way on the forum and from the number of questions we've had, should have done a better job on the first post!

To cover some of the more common queries -

1. We can take payment by card - appreciate this particularly helps with short notice opportunities and in current climate.
2. Usual conditions regards Estate Rifle? - you must be 18 or over and not otherwise prohibited - FAC revoked, criminal conviction etc.
3. Estate rifle will be either Sako 75 or 85 in 308 with moderator - very easy on the shoulder. We use these for teaching and on courses.
4. 'Friendly' - hard to define! But we spend a lot of time doing DSC1 and L2 prep courses and specialise in Introduction to Stalking packages for complete novices. There is absolutely no 'talking at'. Aim is to give the client a safe good day out - regardless of experience. First timers looking for a taster are absolutely not a problem.
5. Accomodation - we have a list that we can send out covering B&B, hotels, self catering, camping - rough or site and including camper vans. Most are in or around the Archiestown/ Aberlour area.
6. Extraction - a hand is always appreciated, but we try to cater for all abilities. No requirement to drag a 17 stone stag over two Munroes ... of course if you really want to:). Argocat & Quad machines are to hand.

Think that covers it. But please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any query at all.

SSSSh!

I was tasked with getting hind availability up on here a few weeks back - oops:oops:

I will do a thread as soon as.

But basically hinds & roe does on same ground as above - mix of forestry, open gullys, forest edge to hill etc. Flat rate of £150 per day. As above L2 AW available at no additional charge.

FD - still trying to debug the e brochure - soon, soon!

Yes, hinds/ does 'unlimited' - in sensible sense of the word - eg recovering carcases etc.

Whilst out for hinds last week with Dougster he found this ( pic at bottom ) on the ground. Just needed to be a week earlier, the other antler, head, legs, body etc and he'd be sorted! Have to say Dougster was a pleasure to be out with - one of the good guys.

Apologies to all those waiting on e brochures/ pricing etc - combination of my IT ineptitude and various outings keeping me away from the desk:D. Will get sorted soon.

PS - D wishes it to be known that his nose isnt that big in real life. Unfortunately my podge is exactly as big in real life as in pictures:-|
