Low Numbers Of Muntjac

I suspect density of foxes on your ground could well be a major factor. It has been clearly shown that fox numbers have a big impact on roe kid survival and same is true for hares so I suspect munties are a similar scenario.

That would seem to make a lot of sense.

I have shot muntjac on Ampton estate in Suffolk this past few years, there seem to be a lot of deer on the ground, this is a very heavily keepered shooting estate. It is also crawling in hares. I have never seen a fox while there, despite many hours sitting in high seats.

I shot four muntjac there in the first weekend of February past. They were in superb condition with plenty of fat despite that fact they had just been through the worst winer in 50 years. The does both had well developed foetuses on board and were in beautiful condition.

Have to say I love the little brutes.
