    yearling pregnancy

Hi, just wondering if anyone has any info on pregnancy rates in wild yearling red deer. Shot one the other day that was in calf, which I thought would of been quite rare as it only weighed 80lb in the larder door. I know its not an uncommon thing in farmed deer with heavier weights, but I imagine deer on the hill in scotland is a different matter.

we get a fair proportion of wild yearlings in calf, though not so much recently with the last bad winters. It usually is determined by body wieght thresh hold so surprising in a light animal. In our park deer most yearlings will be in calf.
