    .223 Case identification

    Hello Chaps.

I was hoping that someone could identify the manufacturer of some .223 cases I have, printed on the case is LC 08 and also what looks to be a plus sign in a circle! thank you in advance.

    Kindest regards

lake city, us 5.56mm and is quite a hard case. Will also have a crimp in the pocket that needs sorted if you're reloading. The stamp mark is the generic mark for nato spec ammo.

If I'm going to be accused of it then it's just as well I did it.

Or is the best to go out and buy a new box of cases!

    Kindest regards

The FC ones are Federal Cartridge and will be fine for home loading. The LC ones will need the primer pockets reamed out after you removed the primer. The LC stuff is made for use in semi autos (M16, SA80) and the primers are crimped to keep them in place.

Best not to mix them. Use the FC stuff, easier and good cases
