A name we use in Oz for those that are usually called a 'silly b' the Galah the clown prince of the parrots here.

good pic - saw a heap of these in WA this year. No decent photos tho - they always seemed to be at the top of the big eucalyptus'
 
They are under the guns in many places in the cropping areas,I have personally seen a flock that could have been only counted as 5000 in number,enormous!
 
They are in great demand as an aviary bird here in the UK but cannot be exported from Australia where they are classed as a vermin species.
A deceased friend at Kirkby Stephen, Cumbria, successfully bred from a pair which he flew at liberty, they nested in a box in a tree beside the drive to his residence.

Not entirely correct re vermin,they are, as all Aus fauna protected and one must gain a destruction permit if they are damaging crops. I wouldnt shoot one unless so,even then with some reluctance.
