Aggressive deer culls are ‘national scandal’

AGGRESSIVE shooting of deer to save plants and trees is a “national scandal” endangering jobs and the Highland economy, gamekeepers claimed yesterday.
The Scottish Gamekeepers Association (SGA) said red deer numbers were already suffering because of two harsh winters – and now conservation policies, aimed at protecting young forests, are adding to the problems.
Their comments provoked a row with conservationists who insist the over-culling claims were not true.
