270 Recipes

Finally got a variation through that allows me to buy enough bullets to hand load. (Should have thought about that when I applied for a FAC).

Has anyone got a good recipe for 270? Was thinking about using 130g Nosler BTs, as I use Nosler BTs in the 243 and that works well.

Thanks folks

For a 130 gn SP or BT try the following powders and work up from about 3 grains below. WW760 at 55 gn, H4350 at 55 gns, H4831 SC at 60-61 gns. RE-22 is also a great powder for the 270 if you want velocity. Will have to search my records for a RE 22 wt. All the above loads will give around 3000 fps in a 22" tube in my remington. they maybe warm in some rifles so again work up from 3 grains below in 1 grain increments.

That'd be really helpful. The 243 gets fed RE22, so a single powder would make life easier (possibly cheaper also) too.

I use 130gn Sierra prohunters, Re22 (About 58gn gets me 2900fps and good accuracy) with CCI 250 primers.
It works really well on Reds, but find it a bit too much for Roe.

A mate of mine uses 140grain nosler bt. shooting a 270 factory tikka he shot 1.4" at 400yards and 1.5" at 450yards. N160 rws once fired cases cci primmers

CCi BR primers, Norma brass, 130grain Nosler BT, 54 grains of H4350 gives me about 2950 and superb accuracy.

Hi there I use rws shells hodgen h4350 powder 56 gm and hornady v-max 110 gr work great in browning x-bolt , sako 75 and my old Parker hale all in .270 great grouping don't think I could change from that
