    Reloading for 25-06 (cost ?)

    Hi all
I am thinking about getting in to reloading for 25-06, could anyone tell me once the initial outlay for the equipment has gone how much does it cost per bullet

    Regards rich

Depending on case life about 60 pence like the scud said,a quid cheaper than federal fusion though,I did see on a website, can't recall which one but it was but they were 85gr nos bal tips factory at £52 for 20,that's a lot of dish.

I use 100 gn Nosler ballistic tips £22 per 50, cci 200 Large rifle primers £3.30 per 100, 1lb reloader 17 £37.50 or 1 KG Elcho 17 £50 (they are the same powder it's just harder to get the Elcho) and I calculated using 100 cases fired from factory loaded ammo.

I use 52.5 grains with 100 gn bullets, both powders shoot same point of impact at all ranges this is 0.5 grain under makers stated max load.

These are the costs with 100gn NBT's

    Reloader 17 = 75p per bang
    Elcho 17 = 66p per bang

With 100 gn sierra pro hunters (£24.50 per 100)

    Reloader 17 = 55p per bang
    Elcho 17 = 46p per bang

This is the calculator I use,

    Reloading Costs Calculator Ultimate Reloader

With this powder charge and the NBT's I get sub 1" groups at 100 meters from a standard walnut stocked Stalking rifle.

    Hope this helps,

Rich. Cost per bullet is not the whole story, probably not even half the story. Since I've started reloading, I fire a lot more rounds and I've bought a better scope and changed my rifle. I don't dare add up what I've spent since I started reloading. Sometimes I think I should have stuck with a Sako 75 in 243 with a Habitch 8 x 50 scope on it and using Sako 90gr for roe deer.

    Good luck. JCS

    I use IMR 4350, £40.00 1lb = 7000 gns. 52gns per load = 134 rounds per 1lb = .30p
    Primer..Rem 9 1/2 per round = .035p
    Bullet..Sierra Prohunter 1620 100gn 24.50 per 100 = .245p it 75p each divide by 8 (That's my average reload per case) = .094p
This equates to approx. 68p per bang & gives me 1/4" MOA @ 100 yds.

OK try thos to save him on his excess baggage bill:-

E-Bay USA go to reloading tools and find a nice set of dies........................... buy them and then just wait a short time for them to arrive. Way cheaper and probably faster than waiting on a upcoming trip. There is no problem doing this and I have brought several used dies this way including the 25-06 dies.

If your just starting and do not intend to reload in large quantities then something like the Lee hand press is ideal. A set of Powder scoops like those that Lee offer and some scales. Oh yes a hand primer all this can be kept in a drawer out of the way until needed.

You could also order direct from Lee Precision.

    Just a suggestion of course.

I agree with Brithunter on this....getting stuff from the US. Done it myself, even called up Huntingdon dies & had them make a Competition seating die for my .25-06 years ago. So been doing this as req'd for a long time. Cheers,
