Cheap disposable moderators is this the future?

Let's not forget the fact that an oil filter isn't going to be a very effective moderator. It's not what it's designed for, so why should it be?

It is an effective flash hider, for sure, but the internals will limit the amount of gas expansion it can prevent from exiting the hole at the front.

I don't know of any oil filters these days that use paper elements. Most are a fine mesh. The ones that have a fibre element almost exclusively use a fibreglass material.
 
oil filter internally matches what the "hair curler" mods for air rifles are like inside.
major part missing is the baffle system.

Would imagine the baffle is a fundemental part to a RF/CF mod
