The groundsman at work came to see me coz he'd ploughed through a load of mushrooms when cutting the grass and I managed to gather these before they bit the dust

Out shooting tnite if it stays fine so it would be nice to bag something to accompany them for tmoro's tea

They are St. George's mushrooms. So named as the appear around. 23rd April.

With resepct, NO they're not.

St George's Mushrooms do not have pink/brown gills, they're "whitish" and the spore print is white. Nor do they usually display a stem ring, like in the OP's photos.

But it is very early for Horse Mushrooms. We don't usually see them before the end of June. Having said that they do look like Horse Mushrooms.

The membrane on intact buttons should have that distinctive "cogged" feature and the spore print is dark purple-brown. Gills of unopened and immature specimens would be pale pink, going to dark chocolate in over-mature ones.

Delicious.
