Why cant we post expanding bullets internally?

If it is not a legal requirement to enter expanding projectiles on to ones FAC and Royal mail restricted and prohibited items list does not mention any bullets why cant we post expanding bullets domestically?
Who exactly says we cant?

Ian.

Because the bullets (missiles) come under section 5 (prohibited weapons and ammunition) of the Firearms Act and as such must be transported by approved carrier.

Because the men with big sticks say so. It's crazy? They should restrict the things that make it go bang yes but not the bits of metal that are useless on their own

bk I'm with you on that one. The restrictions on expanding bullets serve no useful purpose other than to inconvenience the law abiding and add additional costs to the users of expanding ammunition. There are sufficient controls on the other components anyway.

No, they shouldn't restrict any of it. But we've had this discussion many times before and always come back to "It's law, it doesn't have to make any f#####g sense!

None the less keep plugging away and we might get a more enlightened view eventually. After all they have recently increased the amount of nitro powder that we can hold without an explosives licence.

It seems that although expanding bullets are not listed on Royal Mails restricted/ prohibited items list, the government has exempted them from being approved official carriers.
