For most of my adult life I've been plagued by an allergy to synthetic fragrances/perfumes, so I'm a bit limited to low odour washing powders , and ladies! . When I get into the car with one of my stalking mates in the early hours and I'm hit by a wall of Persil Extra all my senses shut down. They don't cop on because the smell is part of their everyday life. If my low grade human nose is this sensitive, what about (a)my hound and (b) more importantly the deer ? I know our American cousins maintain that the optical brighteners in washing powders are visible to deer. I've read somewhere that butterflies are confused by these ' summer flowers etc'
P.S. none of my mates have complained about my smell.
