Thread: Signs.

OK guys, the factor wants signs placed at the entrance (s) when culling operations are taking place. What do you all use?
Not anything with the word "Danger" on it.
All help and suggestions gratefully received.

Brain kicked in and I looked up an old post - before my time on this forum - and I think I have enough to go on but I would appreciate comments just the same.

Well, I seem to recall the BDS Deer Management Course suggested something along the lines of "Deer Management in Progress: Members of the public should be aware that deer management operations are in progress and we respectfully ask that you keep to designated footpaths"....of course my memory may be false, but I'll try to have a look in the manual later.

For Scotland you might want to refer to the Best Practice guide:

And this one specifically for signage:

O wad some Power the giftie gie us to see oursels as ithers see us!

wildlife management is currently taking place in this area and firearms are currently in use.
Please keep to the designated footpaths and tracks and keep dogs on a lead
Thank you for your cooperation and we apologise for any inconvenience.

I also have a version where you can add your mobile number and a version in Welsh!!

We have a foot path right through our permission and a sign near the access 'shooting in progress and Date....'
Many times ive bumped into people that say they saw the sign but thought it was out of date.

if you make the sign with a panel for date/ time ect it has more impact and people are aware that it is today you are on the ground. If it's a route regularly used maybe even flag that there will be stalking/deer management taking place here on the next ---days between --am and pm.
anything generic thats left up from week to week will largely be ignored.
Even better when the day length allows get out pre-dawn and be done and on the way home before the rest of the world wakes up and scratches it's ar**.
