    When to go coterminous?

    Hi all,
I have finally bit the bullet and applied for coterminous renewal. While I accept the effort and cost benefit, the there is a bitter taste in my mouth as I renewed my shotguns only last year. Gwent authority have repeatedly told me I could only go coterminous at the firearm renewal. To date they have repeatedly failed to explain/justify this position. I fail to understand the requirement especially when you already hold both shotguns and firearms. Please can someone explain/justify this requirement to remove this bitter taste. it has cost me 100 in less than a year to renew both.
thanks in advance for any assistance.
    regards m.

The reason basically is that you can't shorten the life of a firearm certificate.
