Had our first walk round day of the season on saturday. (picked an excellent day weather wise).
Took griff although he is still limping a bit. Set off up the hedgerows on my own didnt see many (most are still hanging around the pens ) Griff settled back into it as though it was only last week we stopped.
got a couple of points but the birds flew very low so left them for another day.
finally got a really good point and flush on a really nice cock bird. went up high and fast first shot of the season and down he came, sent griff out for him and got a text book retrieve (well pleased).
got a couple more points and 2 nice henbirds in the bag, highlight of the day had to be a good point/flush on a covey of english partridge, the first Ive seen staying on our shoot after breeding, really nice to watch them fly despite the dirty look the dog gave me for not shooting.
