Just an observation here but i have noticed a couple of vehicles locally that have what seem like road/dueller type tyes on the front and fairly chunky off road tyres on the rear. does anyone else use this type of set up and will it make much difference to capabilities ??

One tyre or the other will not be original equipment. Not many folk do but everyone should notify their insurers when changing brands or sizes. A lot of effort is put into tyre choice by the manufacturers with regards to suspension, traction control settings and A.B.S parameters etc and you cannot expect your insurance to cover you if you change from high grip road biased tyres to low grip (on tarmac) mud terrains without their knowledge or consent or even worse if you start mixing and matching tyres of differing friction coefficients front to rear.
