The recent hard frosts have been making some of my ground almost impossible to tread quietly with heavy frozen leaf fall making it sound like I’m walking on cornflakes!!
So, change of tactics required, get in nice and early and let things settle before the sun comes up and see if I can pick off some more Does.
So, up around 5am and set out into the chill, crept as best I could up through a long narrow wood to get to my desired area sounding like a bull in a china shop.
I upset one Roe and sent it running / crashing through the wood and barking in the pitch black, but I stuck to the plan and carried on.
Got in position and passed a few mins watching the rat race starting on the road below..and glad not to be part of it..
Starting to look like another beautifully crisp morning…
The old “Currant Bun” rising with a wee bit of heat behind ..
Plan worked, slowly stalked into a likely area and bagged a brace
Could have shot another just as I was gralloching the second beast but the clearfell I was on was absolutely treacherous under foot today, 2 was enough to shift..
