Hi Guys,

Is pillar bedding really worth while? I'm thinking ov having my stock bedded.

Can anyone recommend a gunsmith in scotland who could do this for me and also do i have to take the action to the gunsmith as well or does he just need the stock? (please excuse my ignorance)

Any idea on a rough cost for these works?

Contact Grant Taylor in Dundee. He sorted out the bedding on my Sako 75 after someone else bodged it. See forum member taylor. A number of folk looked at my rifle and took my money and it shot no better. Grant fixed it and I won some silverware with it.

only nessary on target rifles
I recon exactly the other way round.
really usefull on a hunting rifle, not that important on a target rifle as one twiddles on them scope buttons...and has sighters.
A hunting rifle must shoot to the same spot from any shooting position, at any temperature from a cold barrel maybe also a warm barrel.
Much more complex than a target rifle.
To achieve that with a light hunting rifle one has to pull a few strings, bedding is one.
