countryfile lets us down again

annoyed at bcc and countryfile not for the first time,I dont watch the rubbish normaly but was told they had something about deer on,need'nt have bothered as it was the usual crap, another pop star without a clue wanting to buy into the rural way of life.

This was'nt the issue that annoyed me, it was a piece about gainsborough and his famous painting of mr & mrs
andrews"i'm no art buff but its the one with mr andrews having a break from shooting"

the presenter announced that we are going to recreate this painting with the help of some local schoolchildren
so the camera pans around to the recreation and guess what, NO GUN TO BE SEEN

The stand in mr andrews looked awkward without his weapon,as we all would

When are the bbc going to grow a set

when we as hunters, shooters etc can watch programes about our sport on mainstream tv it will be a cold day in hell

Its funny how they are willing to take on North Korea but not the treehuggers. I guess they know who is the more dangerous and aren't willing to start anything with them.

i'v stopped watching it, it used to be a nr clear veiw on all now seems to getting more on the PC wagon

Northwestpest,
The BBC will never show such things as guns and shooting. It's not they are concerned about the reaction of the EcoMentalists, it's against the BBC's socialist principles - and it's us muggins, the taxpayers, who are funding their claptrap. The worst one on that programme is that Craven fellow - a right little liberal pinko lefty. Can't abide the sight of him.
I follow Robin Page's admonition to never watch it and go for a walk instead.

Sadly i have to agree..

I keep watching hoping a snippet of something really good might have been mistakenly left in but am usually left wondering why i bother watching.

If they put a hot weather girl on at the end might just help some flickers stay tuned

But how many of us bother to complain to the BBC? Thats were the bunny huggers get the upper hand over us - as a collective we are apathetic and I think the organisations that represent us (BASC, CA etc) don't challenge the establishment as must as the anti-organisations do.

because not complaining makes it even easier for them to walk all over us. At least they would have to answer quesions such as why they found a musket offensive. Maybe david from basc could say if they are making a representation on our behalf

edited- Just been on BBC.co.uk and filled out their complaint form took less than 5 min and the promise a response. thought I should put my money were my mouth is!

Not a great fan of the programme generally, but don't you remember the item on country file last week about the need for deer management (and yes rifle was shown at one point, even though he didn't manage to make a shot).?

id sooner be on fire than watch that bunny hugging crap , i do as petel said and go for a walk instead, a much better use of my time :)

+1

We've also got Landward in Scotland which featured a report on lead ingestion in wildfowl. Swans were featured. According to this drivel the only place they an acquire lead shot is from shooting. Never a mention of anglers. They were generous enough to say that, as the swans were migratory, they possibly picked up the shot abroad. I suppose we should expect nothing better from the beeb nowadays.

only said yesterday to my farmer friend that I dunt watch it anymore ,and his reply was, what aload of **** that is.lol

totally agree with all replies and would have expected nothing less, good to know im in the right with like minded folk
I also filled a complaint form out at countryfile mag online, still awaiting a reply.

I am quite used to craven and his understudies but was annoyed mostly about the missing gun as i think it was an effort to shield the
children from any assosiation with guns, shooting etc,

It seems to be the norm now,my daughter is a teaching assistant and got herself into hot water recently for discussing shooting at school
which really upset the headmaster i understand

I did hear about a survey a couple of years back and children from inner cities struggled to identify farm animals and which food comes from what animal....................I wonder why

The painting in question. Good enough for the National Gallery , but not, apparently for Countryfile !!!

Complaint registered

"My complaint is that,BBC Countryfile have portrayed a painting by Gainsborough in an incorrect way. They have misrepresented one of the UK's most famous paintings in a way as to apparently hide one of the countries most important sports/hobbies/pastimes, by removing the shotgun from the scene.
This leads the children in the programme to believe that what they see is factual. It does nothing to enhance the learning experience of the children and certainly works against shooting sports in the UK.
Countryfile appear to have a bias against shooting sports and their portrayal, which is part of what the country is all about.
Mr and Mrs Andrews is good enough for the National Gallery in its original form. Surely it should be good enough for Countryfile."

Now waiting for reply.................Oh I should have said about the weather girl !!!
