Just been playing with bins in a shop and on handling a pair of sworo's one of the eye pieces came loose in my hand! It was a pair of 10*20's but not what I expected from 500 of glass.

Do you mean the lens itself, or the eyepiece that you pull out to use the binos if you don't wear glasses?

If the former - very disappointing
If the latter - that's a feature, not a bug! They are designed that way.

O wad some Power the giftie gie us to see oursels as ithers see us!

I mean it came off. Have two pairs of Leica bins so familiar with push pull eye piece design.

I always knew Leica were better.
Hope they didn't try and charge you.

    500 sounds like a bargain.
It's the calibre of the shooter that counts not the calibre of the rifle.

Broken now so only 300 surely !

On my EL's, the eyepieces are designed to be removed for cleaning any bits of dust, pine needles, etc...

Just twist in the normal way, then twist a bit more to unscrew.
