Thread: First adder of the year!

    First adder of the year!

Was out scouting for beaver yesterday evening and almost stepped on this little chap who was laying right out in the open.

There was still snow in places and ice on the lake so I though it would be too cold for them, the temperature was also quite low so he wasn't very active and just lay there hissing giving me the chance to get a few photos.

Have you guys see many so far this year?

I understand people have phobias about snakes etc but lets face it there are plenty of people about that are far more venemous than that little asp. Nice to see, I love em.

No adders but grass snake about a week ago, on that first warm weekend at the end of winter.

The last one I saw bit my dog on the lower jaw. Not seen any yet this year and would not be upset if I didn't see one ever again. Not scared of them just don't like them.
unless you can prove it beyond all reasonable doubt, it wasn't me. If you can prove it then you must be mistaken

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the darker ones are female. They are darker, as this absorbs more light and warm up more quickly.
