    Register as an Organ Donor

Go on, you know it makes sense...

NHSBT - Organ Donation - Register Now

What is the NHS Organ Donor Register?

The NHS Organ Donor Register is a national, confidential list of people who are willing to become donors after their death. It can be quickly accessed to see whether an individual has registered a willingness to be an organ donor. It can literally be a life-saver. So that in the event of your death there's a chance that your organs could help someone else to live.
It is not known exactly how many people's organs could have been used to save life if only they and their families had given consent.
Putting your name on the NHS Organ Donor Register makes everyone aware of your wishes and makes it easier for them to agree to your donation.
Millions of people carry donor cards or are on the register. Join them. The easiest way is to join online.
When you register it is important that you tell those closest to you about your decision. Even if your name is on the register, the person closest to you in life will be asked to confirm that you had not changed your mind. Putting your name on the register demonstrates your consent to the use of your organs for transplantation.
Facing up to the death of a loved one is hard. Having to make a decision about organ donation, unsure what that person would have wanted can cause extra pain.
Talk to your family now to make sure they know what you want.
You will be sent a donor card when you join the Organ Donor Register, if you are already on the register but havenít got a card you can request one by ringing the Organ Donor Line on 0300 123 23 23 between 7am and 11pm seven days a week. Calls are charged at your contracted rate for local calls.

My brothers young daughter will die unless she receives a new heart.

I don't understand the full medical details of it all but she has recently had open heart surgery which was necessary to enable her to reach her teens where a full heart transplant will be needed.

Hopefully a few on here wont need to be affected personally to sign up

    Nice one IF

Potentially the lives already saved could number nearly 100 through organ donation.

This could singularly be the best thread SD has ever produced in enabling the selfless action of a member to enable countless others to receive the gift of life....

Have been one for 50 years, trouble is things are going wrong in me these days, so I'm going to need my own spare parts soon.
But as said by Farticus it is a very good cause. Personally I don't think there should be a choice.
When your dead. if there is anything left that's of use to anyone that's sick, then it should just be taken and used, your not going to need it
