Had my first outing with the 30-06 tonight and bagged a wee Roebuck still in velvet, shame as there were three bucks and two doe's and the other two bucks were clean but they meandered over a crest and were not accessible so this fellow was knocked over, wasn't as much meat damage on a roe as I expected with it - in fact the 125gr sp was less damaging than 75 BT's 243 Norma's I have used in the past.
the shot was high and further back than I'd like but I'll put this down to the dodgy position leaning over a dyke on a hill and shooting a new rifle to me and the buck only went 30 yards then keeled over dead.
the lung entrance and exit holes are pretty clean.
